Are interest rates going to go up in australia

House prices down 3.7% in the last quarter and flat for the year, who knew the world wasn’t ending?

Who knew with all this press driven dooms daying, according to Cotality (property data people - link here), the national market is flat over the last 12 months. The world has not ended.

And there are markets within markets such as regional markets which continue to outperform (of course, living regional is awesome)

Amongst all of this we still have people buying their first homes , renovating , subdividing , (divorcing and starting again - yep that sucks) refinancing  and making plans for their lives and making their dreams come true.

In some cases a few people have decided to sell for personal and financial reasons, with higher interest rates tipping the balance and increasing stress too much short term, with our advice and blessing, as a way to reset and improve their cash flows.

Successful people take action, even if that’s painful sometimes.

Here is a random list of discussions we have had this week that may apply to you:

If you see yourself in any of these, pick up the phone 0403397060 or email.

  • With interest rates on the rise, what % of my loan should I fix right now?

  • What actually is an offset?

  • Which banks will exclude my business liabilities from borrowing ?

  • I’m getting a divorce - can I afford to buy out my 50% or do we need to sell?

  • Reverse mortgage for a parent vs other options

  • My pre approval expired earlier in the year , I’ve changed plans and now what can I afford?

  • As per your advice last year I paid off my car loan, now how do things look for me buying my first home ?

  • I’ve found a place off market and we’ve agreed on the price , now what do I do ?

  • What should my building insurance amount be?

  • My parents are going guarantor , what do we do? What can we afford ?  What’s the risk for them?

  • I want to buy an office in my super fund , what do I need to do ? Which lenders do you recommend for this and what does it look like ?  Will it affect my retirement timing ?

  • Bridging finance - I’ve just bought a new home (acreage) , but the old one isn’t selling, can you help me ?

  • Looking at buying land in another state , then build a house and totally move our lives, need to sell our current home , how do we even start this process?

  • I’m selling a business property from my Family Trust to SMSF - can you help with this?

  • The buyers agent you recommended found me an awesome place, can I afford just a little bit more with my current income (yes) and with rates having gone up (no).

  • Banks we’ve been dealing with this week - Commbank, Macquarie, Firstmac (smsf), Latrobe ,  Redzed , Westpac, St George , Bankwest (so underrated ), Regional Australia Bank , ANZ, NAB

Very few of these conversations was it about the rate as the first priority (although yes rates are important).

The conversation is mostly about: how do I achieve my dreams and Reggie can you help me?

If you have dreams* we can help you - reply back now!

I love my job!!

*Note I cannot accommodate all dreams in this role, mostly only financial.
